Special care for nervous patients
You are allowed to be frightened.
It is written on the sign by our front door, and it was there long before anyone thought about a website. Here is what it actually means on the day.
The honest part
Nobody is going to tell you off.
Most people who are frightened of the dentist are not frightened of their teeth. They are frightened of being judged for how long it has been, of not being able to say stop, and of not knowing what is about to happen.
All three of those are things a practice controls. So we control them.
What it coststo be nervous here
- Longer appointment
- No extra charge
- Talk it through first
- Stop whenever you want

On the day
What actually happens
01
You say so when you book
One sentence on the phone. We put you in a longer slot, usually first thing, when the practice is quiet.
02
You sit up, not back
The first appointment can be a conversation in a chair that is upright. Nothing goes in your mouth until you say it can.
03
We tell you before we do it
Every instrument, before it is picked up. Surprise is most of what makes it frightening.
04
Your hand is the stop button
Raise it and everything stops, immediately, without being asked why. It works every time, not just the first time.
05
No lecture about the gap
Two years, ten years, since school. We are interested in what happens next, not in what did not happen.
06
You can leave having done nothing
A first visit where we only look and talk is a successful first visit. Plenty of people come back a month later.
In their words
“Quickly and painlessly.”
That is a patient describing having a tooth taken out, on the same day it happened. Another wrote that she was pregnant and anxious, and that the team made sure she felt looked after from the moment she arrived.
Fifty-nine reviews, none below five stars. The word patients use most often is calm.
Rather write than ring?
Ask us to ring you back.
Plenty of people who have put off the dentist for years find the phone call harder than the appointment. Write instead. Someone from the practice will ring you at a time you choose.
This is a request, not a booking. Nothing is confirmed until we have spoken to you.
